Chilling details have emerged about an alleged attack on an 11-year-old Canberra girl, who was knocked off her bike and strangled until she was unconscious, on her way home from school yesterday.
A 23-year-old Canberra man was charged over the assault and choking in the ACT Magistrates Court this morning.
Magistrate Beth Campbell said the alleged attack was random, terrifying and "abhorrent", amounting to "every parent's worst nightmare".
The court heard the girl had rung her mother from school to say she would ride home through the Fadden Pines park.
